CPR Training for January Meeting

FCPOM is excited to welcome George Lane from 1st Hand Safety, LLC to teach our members CPR and the Heimlich maneuver. The primary focus of the meeting will be on the CPR techniques for children ranging from ages 0 – 8. After completion of this class you will leave with a 2 year CPR certification.

Why attend this class?

First of all CPR saves lives in this class you will learn techniques for handling a life-threatening emergency – if a child is choking or isn't moving or breathing because of a fall or a near drowning, for example. The techniques are different for babies and older children, so it's important to learn both. In a pediatric CPR course, participants learn how to prevent, recognize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies.

Would you know what to do if your child stopped breathing? If you don’t feel prepared to respond to a medical emergency involving your child, don’t hesitate to learn CPR, a procedure that consists of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Hopefully, you’ll never be in the position of having to perform CPR on your child, but it could happen. Undergoing CPR training will ensure that you’re prepared in case an unfortunate emergency occurs. Administering CPR could save your child’s life if his heart stops beating or he isn’t breathing adequately.

Reasons why a baby or child’s heartbeat and breathing may stop include the following:

• Suffocation
• Choking
• Severe asthma
• Poisoning
• Near drowning
• Smoke inhalation
• Head trauma
• Electrical shock
• Obstructive apnea
• Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)

Details: The meeting will be held on January 4, 2017 at 7 pm. The cost for FCPOM members is $30 per person (includes 2 year CPR certification). The class is limited to 20 people, so please Paypal your payment early to ensure you get a spot. Please go to the FCPOM webpage to submit payment.http://www.fcpom.org/event-payment/
